Must You Take Every Drop of This Joy?

Grief & Reclamation

Must you take every drop of this joy?

You starve us,
and dim our lights.
Then ask, "Where are we off to?"

My flamboyance and I are going as you wish.

You have deemed us nomadic
and coined yourselves the settlers.

Does it not occur to you
that I too like you may wish to settle?

We've left a place where we are safe to create
and are celebrated.

Tell me this:
do you feel settled now?
Or do you just pretend to be?

What will be of you
when your descendants and we are gone?
Who is left to wipe your dungs?

Cheers to hoping you have given this much thought
and are not simply following trends.

Anyhoo, I bid thee adieu.

May all your wishes come true,
and may your Shamrocks stay fresh forever.
