Dr. Nita Mishra
Poet • Scholar • Development Researcher
"A poet by passion, a scholar by practice. My words explore the spaces where social justice, identity, and the human heart intersect."
About Dr. Nita Mishra
Dr. Nita Mishra is an Assistant Professor at the University of Limerick, Ireland, where she lectures on Development Studies with a focus on social justice, public administration, and feminist methodologies. But beyond the lecture hall and research papers, she is a poet—a storyteller who uses verse to explore the complexities of identity, empowerment, and the human condition.
Her poetry is deeply influenced by her extensive experience working at the grassroots level with civil society organizations, faith-based groups, and donors in the Global South. This unique perspective allows her to weave academic rigor with emotional authenticity—creating poems that are both intellectually stimulating and deeply moving.
Dr. Mishra was invited as a featured poet to the International Dublin Writers Festival 2020 under the theme "Embodying Diversity and Inclusion in Poetry." Her work has been praised for its ability to bridge cultures, challenge assumptions, and give voice to experiences often left unheard.
As Chair of the Steering Committee for the Development Studies Association Ireland and Vice President (Education & Training) at EADI, she continues to advocate for inclusive scholarship—but it is in her poetry that she finds space for the stories that data cannot capture.
